DASHA LEVEL 4

Sookshma Dasha: A Fine Vimshottari Timing Layer

Sookshma Dasha is a finer subdivision inside a Pratyantardasha. It uses the same Vimshottari sequence and proportions, but applies them to a much shorter parent interval.

How Sookshma fits into the hierarchy

The complete path shown by MoKundli is Mahadasha → Antardasha → Pratyantardasha → Sookshma → Prana. Sookshma is therefore the fourth timing layer.

It should be read together with all three parent periods rather than as a standalone planetary label.

How MoKundli determines Sookshma dates

When the configured provider response stops at Pratyantardasha, MoKundli uses the exact returned Pratyantardasha start and end timestamps as the parent interval.

That interval is subdivided using the standard Vimshottari planetary-year proportions. The interface marks these rows as calculated depth so they are not confused with provider-returned timestamps.

When deeper timing is useful

A finer period can help organize an already-established timing analysis, but greater granularity does not automatically mean greater certainty.

Birth-time accuracy and the quality of the parent chart remain important, especially when working with short intervals.

Frequently asked questions

How can I find my current Mahadasha, Antardasha and Pratyantardasha?

Vimshottari Dasha starts from the Moon's birth Nakshatra. A calculator uses birth date, accurate time, location and a defined ayanamsa to produce the Mahadasha, Antardasha, Pratyantardasha, Sookshma and Prana date ranges. Check the calculation settings when websites disagree.

Are Shani, Rahu or Ketu Dashas always negative?

No. Traditional interpretations consider the planet's house placement, dignity, lordship, aspects, conjunctions and the running sub-periods. Saturn may symbolize discipline, Rahu unusual opportunities and Ketu detachment; none guarantees a good or bad event.

Use astrology as context, not certainty

Jyotish is interpretive. A chart or Dasha period does not guarantee a particular life event. Important decisions should also use real-world evidence and appropriate professional advice.
